What You Can Do To Treat Achilles Tendinitis
Initial treatments, aimed at reducing swelling and bleeding, include:

- Offloading achilles tendon with orthotic/footwear modifications (heel raise)

Often when practitioners get busy during their working day, there can be a tendency to try to get through things quickly.
That’s not how we work at Dynamic Podiatry.
We make sure that we don’t over-book our podiatrists, we always keep 1/2 hour appointments, and we give them extra sessions to catch up with any paperwork.
For you, the patient, this means that they have the time to listen to you, to find out about your unique situation.
Every patient does different things during their normal work or study days, and when the go home and during the weekends, this has an impact on the best way to treat your injuries.
Their is no simple one fits all formula, but rather a treatment framework that can be adjusted for your specific needs, to suit your physical activities and you goals, hopes and dreams.
Utilising The Latest Technology
Getting the best results requires the best people, but we also acknowledge that those people need the best tools to achieve the best outcomes.
At Dynamic Podiatry we have implemented the latest technology including the Sensor Medica Treadmill, a state of the art piece of equipment that can not only measure the pressures under your feet whilst you stand, walk or run, but also synchronise that vital information with a very high speed camera.
All this data is then collated and presented in a format that can show:
- symmetry between the left and right foot or the lack thereof,
- the centre of mass (weight) throughout gait. This helps us to know points throughout gait where your muscles or joints are under load and have to slightly change path to move you forwards,
- the amount of sway when you are standing. This gives us insights into your balance systems and how they affect the way you move,
- How much your lower leg is at an angle as your feet hit the ground,
- The amount of pronation (rolling in) occurring in your ankles and feet and how rapidly it occurs, which helps us to know how much stress the muscles, tendons, joints and fascia of your feet and ankles are under every time you take a step,
- How much pressure goes through your heels compared to the front of your feet and the metatarsal heads which can become injured from too much load,
- Your stride length, how far out you are striding and how quickly your foot leaves the ground will often indicate that we need to have a look at what your hips are doing during gait,
- How far apart your feet are when walking and how internally or externally rotated your feet are as you walk. This one is crucial and will indicate that compensation is happening somewhere else in the body which will often result in injury.
It's What You Do With It That Counts
These things all sound interesting, but what do they really mean when we work out an effective treatment plan for your lower limb issues?
The indicators mentioned above will often point us in the direction of another part of your body where the problem may have originated.
As mentioned in some of the points above, they can indicate a hip problem, which could be muscles tightness, weakness, or arthritic.
They can sometimes indicate a restriction in the big toe joint, the ankle, the mid-tarsal joint (middle of the foot), or many other joints.
They can also point to a leg length difference, whether that be a bony difference (anatomical) or a functional leg difference (the legs are technically the same length, but behave differently for some reason).
So, the technology really helps us to sharpen our focus onto the real original cause of your problem.
Which then helps us to work out the exact treatment protocol to help you get back to your absolute best in an active healthy lifestyle.

There is not much point designing a programme based on someone else’s goals!
So we take a look at what you were doing before the injury, what activities you tend to enjoy, and what you would do if we could suddenly get rid of all your pain.

All of our podiatrists have completed a four year Bachelors degree in Podiatry from QUT, the largest podiatry university in the state.
