Plantar heel pain
What Is Plantar Fasciitis?
If you’re waking up with sharp heel pain or finding it hard to walk after long periods on your feet, you might be dealing with plantar fasciitis—the most common cause of heel pain we see at our clinic.
Plantar fasciitis occurs when the plantar fascia—a thick band of tissue that supports the arch of your foot—becomes irritated or inflamed. This can make every step painful, especially first thing in the morning or after rest.
You may also hear it called heel spurs, Policeman’s Heel, or plantar fasciosis—these are all terms used to describe similar types of heel pain beneath the foot.
